A down to earth commentary on the rediculous, the irritating and the outragous in the arena of politics and issues today. When political actions and words make you want to say "what?"

Presidential Jewels of the Day - Trump Ban abortion - punish women
Image By Gage Skidmore commons.wikimedia.org |
Donald trump always seems to shoot from the hip until he realizes he said the wrong thing and has to retract. The latest, his views on abortion. In a Town Hall with MSNBC Chris Matthews, Donald Trump calls for a ban on abortion, claiming to be pro life and when pressed on the issue of punishment he responded that there should be some form of punishment for women if abortion is illegal. He later retracted and said that he meant punishment for doctors or anyone performing abortion. What would we do without the Donald's big mouth?

Trump's campaign manager battery charge - I just don't see it.
I am not a fan of Trump or the way he conducts his campaigns - the encouragement of violent confrontations do not sit well with me. However, after viewing the constant replays of the tape that presumably led to Lewandowski arrest and charge, I just can't see it. It does look like he pulled her off the Donald when she had her hands on the Donald, but I didn't see any violent act. But I suppose the police who reviewed the tape had good reason for the charges. The question is will they hold up it court. It is also a lesson to the Trump campaign that when you incite violence it may just come back to haunt you.

My wife is prettier than your wife na na na na na
Donald Trump accuses Ted Cruz and threatens his wife that he will reveal stuff about her. Heidi, Ted Cruz's wife responds as did her husband. But this was not the end, Trump posted an unflattering photo of Heidi alongside a photo of Melanie with the caption “A picture is worth a thousand words,”
Ted Cruz responded "Donald, you're a sniveling coward and leave Heidi the hell alone,"
What is shocking about all this is that there are people - lots of people who feel that Donald Trump is Presidential material. All those people, women in particular, who are backing Trump for the presidential nomination, take warning. He will call you fat, pig, ugly if you are not looking like a supermodel. I am actually sorry for poor Melanie since she has passed the age where Trump may want to trade her in for a newer model.
The world is in crisis and all the two presidential wannabes can do is fight over their wives.

Ted Cruz - Can a Canadian born become President of the United States?
When Ted Cruz first announced on Twitter that he will be running for the Republican nomination for President, the question on everybody's mind was, could he? The Tea Party is, or was, a strong supporter of the far right candidate who has taken a strong stance against the Obama health care policy. Cruz, like Trump, will build a wall and deport all undocumented Mexicans. Luckily there was no wall between Canada and the US when he crossed over. The question is, will his birth country come back to haunt him in the election. The 44 year old Canadian born only renounced his Canadian citizenship in 2014 - a strategic move?
If we recall, conservatives, led by Donald trump, went to all lengths to try to prove that Obama was born outside of the USA. They failed of course but there is no doubt about where Ted Cruz was born. However, very little attention is paid to Cruz's country of birth. In fact it is practically ignored by the media, the Republicans and the Democrats. Cruz is running second to Trump in the race for the Republican nomination. Will the country of his birth help or hurt him?. Has it already hurt him? Does one have to be born in the USA to become president?

Donald Trump's sexist views on Women
A recent ad shows Donald Trump's comments on Women and they are not pretty. The comments are actual statement from the mouth of Donald Trump on how he sees women. Polls, however, show that Donald Trump has 41% of the women's vote. In a recent interview asking Donald Trump to comment on his comments about women, he responded that he was ahead in the polls with various groups including women. When pressed for an answer to the question, Donald Trump feigned ignorance, again, claiming he hasn't seen the ad. Does he really need to see the Ad to be reminded about some of the horrible names he has called women. Remember, this is the guy who has always traded up(or down) to a younger model. His current wife is a model who posed naked. I guess if a woman isn't young, beautiful ad naked then she falls into one of the other categories.
Here are just a few of Donald Trump's sexist views on women
1) Heidi Klum. Sadly, she’s no longer a 10.
2) She cheated on him like a dog & will do it again ( referring to Kristen Stewart)
3) Look at that face, would anyone vote for that ? I mean she is a woman --" (referring to Carly Fiorina)
4 "How much money is the extremely unattractive Ariana Huffington --- paying her poor ex hubby ---"
5) If Hillary Clinton can't satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?
6) You know, it doesn't really matter what the media write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ass.
7) I’d look at her right in that fat, ugly face of hers, I’d say ‘Rosie, you’re fired.’ (referring to Rosie O'Donnell)
8) Tell that bitch to be cool. Say: 'Bitch be cool.' I love those lines. (quoting his favorite lines from Pulp Fiction)
9) “It must be a pretty picture—you dropping to your knees. ( To Roderick)
10) Fox viewers give low marks to bimbo @MegynKelly --
11) "26,000 unreported sexual assaults in the military-only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?"
12) While @BetteMidler is an extremely unattractive woman, I refuse to say that because I always insist on being politically correct.
13) 'The Face of a Dog!' written over it." (In response to New York Times Columist Gail Collins)
14) 'You're disgusting, you're disgusting,' to a lawyer who asked to be excused to pump breast milk

What to expect if Donald Trump becomes President
Trump, rally, violence, civil war |
The escalating of violence at Donald Trump's rallies on the weekend gives one an insight into what could happen if Donald Trump became president. I predict there will be a violent and protracted civil war , racial discord and violence that hearkens back to the '60s and '70s and the muffling of free speech. Donald Trump will crush any opposition to his rule with force, (he has said as much when he lamented the sad state of affairs because protesters were not treated as harshly as in the old days) The good news is is that Donald Trump really doesn't want to be president. Anyone can see that his campaign is all a publicity stunt - perhaps for a new reality show, otherwise he would be running a much different campaign - one he would actually win.

Ben Carson "I had a dream" basis for endorsing Donald Trump
Someone called Ben Carson and told him ‘I had this dream about you and Donald Trump.’” So it was that the deeply "religious" Ben Carson decided to throw his support behind Donald Trump. Perhaps Donald Trump's Christian values like discussing his manhood on TV, calling Mexicans "rapists" , attacking all Muslims, Making degrading comments about women and hesitating to disavow the KKK, all mesh nicely with Ben Carson's "religious" beliefs. Marco Rubio - showing his weaker side
image Mud wrestling Pixaby |
I was really rooting for Marco Rubio, hoping that he posed a formidable challenge to the Hawkish republican Ted Cruz and the volatile republican Donald Trump. But alas it was not to be. In his earlier debates Marco Rubio concentrated his attacks on the sitting President whom he, surprise! isn't running against. So it was that a little too late he turned his attention to Donald Trump and while he did attack Trumps business acumen he sunk to the the same depths as Donald trump. Alas! we all know that what works for celebrities (they can get away with anything including murder) does not work for ordinary people. Innuendos about penis size may have made the Donald more popular but it did not work for Marco.
Marco Rubio does not present as a strong viable candidate for president and he needed to work harder at convincing the American public that he was a viable alternative to Donald Trump. Furthermore, Marco Rubio has declared that he will support Donald Trump if he wins the nomination. What doses it say about a candidate for president who supports a "con" man, as he puts it, for President?

Holocaust survivor quiver at Donald Trump's Fascist Nazi Salute at rallies
A Holocaust survivor has expressed concern that Donald Trump is mimicking the Nazi Salute at his rallies when he asked his followers to raise their right hands and swear allegiance to him. It is reported that even children in schools are doing it. However, Trump is claiming ignorance again as he did with the KKK saying he "will look into it" Of course we know that ignorance is no excuse for racism or fascism. READ MORE

Why is the Media so smitten with Donald Trump?
If Trump makes it to the White House, he will be forever indebted to the media in particular, MSNBC, CNN and FOX news. The love affair of the press with Donald Trump just gets stronger and more intense as the campaign drags on. Each time you turn on the TV to one of these "political" news channels, you feel you are entering "Trump castle" where Donald Trump is the King and all his servants(the media) are pandering to his every need, hanging on his every word and trying their best to cover up any Trump misdeeds that may be uncovered.
Trump gets top billing, more air time, more positive commentary than any other contestant in the Republican race. When Mitt Romney's speech aired denouncing Trump, it was immediately overshadowed by a sharp focus on Hillary Clinton's Email - what they termed "breaking news" . Reports on violence, hate, the KKK and assaults at Trump's rallies are brushed aside and quickly smothered. Is the media in bed with Trump? Does Trump own the media?
When I think about the media's relentless attack on Obama during his previous presidential campaigns over minor issues I cringe. Donald Trump on the other hand, appear to get accolades for his insults of women and minorities and his fellow Republicans.
I now switch channels each time I tune in and the media is talking Trump which is 99% of the time it would appear.

Presidential Race Jewels of the Day Mitt Romney on Donald Trump
What Romney said about Trump. In an effort to stop the runaway Trump from getting the Republican nomination . Here are some jewels from his Trump bashing speech
"--a phony -- playing the American public for suckers"
"Look, his bankruptcies have crushed small businesses and the men and women who work for them. He inherited his business, he didn’t create it. And whatever happened to Trump Airlines? How about Trump University? And then there’s Trump Magazine and Trump Vodka and Trump Steaks and Trump Mortgage. A business genius he is not."
"Mr. Trump’s bombast is already alarming the allies and fueling the enmity of our enemies. Insulting all Muslims will keep many of them from fully engaging with us in the urgent fight against ISIS, and for what purpose?"
"Let ISIS take out Assad, he said, and then we can pick up the remnants. Now, think about that. Let the most dangerous terror organization the world has ever known take over an entire country? This recklessness is recklessness in the extreme."
"--this is an individual who mocked a disabled reporter, who attributed a reporter’s questions to her menstrual cycle, who mocked a brilliant rival who happened to be a woman due to her appearance, who bragged about his marital affairs, and who laces his public speeches with vulgarity"
.
"There is a dark irony in his boasts of his sexual exploits during the Vietnam War. While at the same time, John McCain, whom he has mocked, was imprisoned and tortured."
"He’s not of the temperament of the kind of stable, thoughtful person we need as a leader."
"Think of Donald Trump’s personal qualities. The bullying, the greed, the showing off, the misogyny, the absurd third grade theatrics."
"--the infamous Tapper-Trump exchange on the Ku Klux Klan will play 100,000 times on cable and who knows how many million times on social media."
" --I predict that despite his promise to do so, first made over a year ago, that he will never ever release his tax returns ---Nor will he authorize the release of the tapes that he made with The New York Times"

The problem with Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio
Image Marco Rubio Credit donkeyhotey |
There are two problems with Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio which has made it possible for a candidate like Donald Trump to possible snag the Republican nomination. The Republican party is in an unenviable position; they hate the candidate who will be representing the Republican party and the don't much like the alternatives - Ted and Marco. So what's a voter to do? Supporting the alternative candidates does not seem to be working so far. Why? Well I believe Ted and Marco are more of a problem than Trump and here is why.
1) Both Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio spent the first critical moments of the campaign fighting Barack Obama instead of Trump. In all their debates and meetings they insulted and derided not only the sitting president of the United States but America as well. If you don't know any better you would probably think that under Obama the USA has become a third world country. The problem with this is that Obama is not running for president - Trump is. So it would seem that, unless they believed Trump could make a great president, they would have concentrated their efforts on stopping him long ago.
Image Ted Cruz credit donkeyhotey |
2) The other problem is likeability. You hear it all the time - talk about how hated Cruz is by the establishment and the "Ted Cruz is Crazy" talk that has flooded the internet. You have seen how little confidence in his abilities, Marco Rubio instills in he Republican voting public.
So who to vote for; one of the two candidates who border on the "boring" at times or one who offends every class of people in the Unites States and the world, a billionaire, an entertainer, and one with reported questionable business practices. You see the dilemma? I gues many Republicans are praying for a "savior" today.

Presidential jewels of the day - Hilary Clinton on president's pay
Image Gage Skidmore Wikimedia Commons |
Kids do ask the darnedest questions and the smartest too. So when a young girl asked Hilary Clinton
“Do you think when you’re President, you’ll be paid as much as if you were a male?” Hilary's response was
:
“This is one of the jobs where they have to pay you the same,” ----But there are so many examples when that doesn’t happen, when women doing the same job are not paid the same.”
I thought about this and wonder if Hilary Clinton knows for sure if a woman will be paid the same as a man in the White House. After all, we never had a woman in the White House and some can claim that a woman president may not have been provided for and never anticipated in the early days. However. Just a thought.
